Bike rack attack

We need to attack the bike rack problem in the Grove, or rather, lack of bike racks.

CocoWalk seems to have installed this small rack, I have seen racks like that in New York and even Sarasota and Key West, but there is one rack I like in Key West very much, the yellow "bike" bike rack you see above.


It could be black, like most bike racks, but this is in front of a bright yellow Key Lime store so it matches the store and is bright yellow. A few of these around the Grove might be cool. They can be color coordinated to fit their surroundings. Like bright red at the corner where Le P'tit Paris is or green at Greenstreets. Or maybe bright yellow at the end of the block where the bright yellow frame store is.

Let's welcome bikers and people who choose to go green (hopefully they'll share the road and not hog it). They are always bitching about lack of bike paths and lanes, maybe some new colorful bike racks will be a welcoming sign as a start. Just a thought.

Harry Emilio Gottlieb took the photo below on the corner of Grand and Matilda. I saw this similar sight at the same spot this morning. Now wouldn't a bike rack, any bike rack, look much better than this mess?
