Feeties

These feet were made for walking, and all of these places are less than two miles from my house  (most are less than a mile, although there's a certain amount of up-and-down in that mile):

2 Post Offices (main post office, a classic of WPA architecture, is above)
Doctor's office
Hospital
Library
Banks/Credit Unions
3 Grocery stores
Coffee joints and restaurants
Art galleries
Office supplies
City offices
Police station
County offices
Pharmacy
Car repair shop
YMCA
Bookstore
Art supply store

And a bunch of other stuff.

About the only thing we really need to drive for locally is to go to Costco, Home Depot, Target and other big stores that are the perimeter of town. (And most grocery shopping--we stock up.) We could walk to our dentist, but he's just far enough away that it would eat up more time than is feasible.

We also drive to PHX and for out of town jaunts. Which isn't often.

I'm grateful we can walk to so many places. It saves gas, keeps low miles on the Subaru, and gets us out of the house. Walking downtown for coffee and a treat and a few hours reading or drawing--that's a little slice of bliss.

Thank goodness for feet and small towns.
